The typical Klein Karoo style farm buildings, including old stables, wagon house, farmhouse, share cropper’s cottage, old barn and a bungalow, have been restored to revive the old world ambience. For generations the Schoeman family farmed this fertile valley and some of the beautiful farm buildings date back to as early as 1830. Albertus and Matilda treat their guests to wholesome country food and hospitality reminiscent of the early 1800's. The subtle and thoughtful addition of modern conveniences and amenities have ensured the unique atmosphere is preserved. The spacious complex allows guests to enjoy privacy and tranquillity. De Opstal is situated on the left, alongside the road. DIRECTIONS FROM GEORGE: 1. Take the N9/N12 over the Outeniqua pass to Oudtshoorn. 2. In Oudtshoorn, continue straight along the Main Road to the Cango Caves. 3. After 14 km De Opstal is situated on the left, alongside the road. DIRECTIONS FROM BEAUFORT WEST: 1. Take the N12 from Beaufort West through Meiringspoort and De Rust to Oudtshoorn. 2. In Oudtshoorn continue straight to Baron van Reede Street, (3rd traffic light). 3.
