San Lameer Golf Estate has hosted the South African Open on a number of occasions. Check in at your hotel or guest house before your afternoon tee-off at the Durban Country Club – one of South Africa’s best golf courses. After your round of golf, enjoy some of the sights and sounds that Durban has to offer before returning to the modern, seaside town of Umhlanga Rocks, just north of Durban. The coast of KwaZulu Natal is known as the “Golf Coast” of South Africa due to the many golf resorts along the coastline. Zimbali is another one of those difficult, but picturesque courses that makes this area live up to its reputation. This afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the golden beaches washed by the warm Indian Ocean. Overnight in an Umhlanga Rocks hotel or guest house. Take a cruise on the St Lucia Estuary, a lake riddled with crocodiles and hippos in the Greater St Lucia Wetlands. Travel to the Hluhluwe / Umfolozi Game Reserve. In years gone by this reserve was the hunting ground of Zulu Kings. Spend the rest of the day in search of the Big 5 and a host of other animals. Overnight in or near Hluhluwe.
