Service at petrol stations is provided by a petrol attendant and please do ask the attendant to check the oil and water.

Tipping the attendant is at your discretion.

 TOLL ROADS

Toll roads operate on major routes and charges do vary from R5.00 per vehicle to R150.00 per vehicle. Payment can be made either by cash or South African linked credit cards.

DRIVING & PARKING IN SOUTH AFRICA

In South Africa all vehicles drive on the left hand side of the road and if the vehicle is parked on the opposite side (right hand side) of the road facing oncoming traffic you will be fined because it’s illegal to park like that in South Africa. Also wearing seatbelts is compulsory by law and it is illegal to operate a hand held mobile phone while driving.

Procedure at a traffic circle

• Always yield at a traffic circle.
• Yield to vehicles already in the traffic circle and those vehicles entering the circle on your right.
• Once all vehicles have passed your right hand side, proceed with caution.
• Note: All vehicles already in the circle have right of way.

Procedure at a 4 way stop

• When approaching a 4 way stop street, stop and look both side, then proceed.
• If there is another vehicle at the stop street it has the right of way.
• If you stop at the same time as the other vehicle, common courtesy applies and either vehicle may proceed first.
