Chandelier Game Lodge is easily accessible, next to the N12 (Route 62) and is an ideal base from which to explore the “Garden of Eden” along the Garden Route as well as the rich diversity of the Klein Karoo and Route 62. The Chandelier Game Lodge and Ostrich Show Farm is 7km from Oudtshoorn and 48km from the George Airport. At the Chandelier Game Lodge you have four accommodation options to choose from. A unique feature of the Chandelier Game Lodge and Ostrich Show Farm is the luxury en suite tented accommodation. The tented chalets at Chandelier offer a unique bush experience - quality is in the detail. The chalets are placed on wooden decks in the bush and great care has been taken to assure privacy and spectacular views. Each en suite unit at the Chandelier Game Lodge has a private observation deck from where guests can spot various game species on their way to the water hole. This Chandelier lodge sleeps 16 guests in 8 private chalets equipped with white linen and velvet as well as corner spa baths and air-conditioning or fans. This specific lodge at Chandelier welcomes children. Chandelier Game Lodge and Ostrich Show Farm also offer you self catering log homes. The African Log Home at Chandelier is set on a wooden deck with a great view of the mountains and plains. It has a wide open deck with barbeque facilities on the deck. There are two en suite bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/lounge with a bunker bed, television, air conditioning, heaters, a fridge and a gas stove. This unit at Chandelier Game Lodge can sleep up to 4 adults and 2 children. The Rustic Log Home is ideal for a self catering breakaway. This log home at Chandelier is set on a wooden deck overlooking the majestic Swartberg mountain, with barbeque facilities. This unit only has one en suite room with a sleeper couch in the lounge area. The Bush Camp at Chandelier Game Lodge is ideal for team building. This camp is situated next to the river under a canopy of Accacia trees. The nearby waterhole, hippo pools and waterfall provides for a natural obstacle course. Big tents are pitched up and one sleeps on a comfortable stretcher either in the tent or under the African stars around the fire. The Dream House at the Chandelier Game Lodge is situated opposite the game lodge overlooking the Swartberg Mountains. It consists of two luxury rooms (a luxury double with en suite and a twin room with a second bathroom). The spacious deck has a Jacuzzi and a large fireplace. The Dram House is fully self catering and is rented per unit and not per person. At Chandelier Game Lodge and Ostrich Show Farm there are many activities to choose from. Ostrich Tours and Riding is very popular in the Oudtshoorn environment. Nowhere else has the ostrich been more important than in the Klein Karoo area. Starting from a fledging industry in the 1870’s, Oudtshoorn soon became the ostrich capital of the world. It is therefore understandable that Chandelier Game Lodge, the closest ostrich show farm to Oudtshoorn, played an important role in the development of the ostrich industry more than 130 years ago. The history of Chandelier, closely linked to the history of the Klein Karoo and the development of the ostrich industry in South Africa, lies enclosed in the old graveyard on the farm. No wonder that guests demanded that the ostrich tour on Chandelier Game Farm should start right at the graveyard. The ostrich tours are conducted on open Land Rovers in order to overcome the elements. Chandelier Game Lodge and Ostrich Show Farm is the only ostrich show farm in South Africa where guests can stay in luxury en suite tented chalets within walking distance from these amazing birds. Guests at Chandelier are invited to participate in the daily activities on the working ostrich farm, like feather clipping, etc. Ostrich riding is also available for the brave, while the professional jockeys at Chandelier compete in the now famous Chandelier ostrich race. For a minimum of 6 guests you can now experience a sundowner bush dinner. The sundowner bush dinner is a perfect ending to an unforgettable day at Chandelier Game Lodge. Our guests are transported to our lapa high up in the mountain on our open Land Rover. At the lapa we spoil our guests with sundowners while they adore the unique sunset over the Swartberg Mountain. The traditional African three course dinner includes a variety of traditional South African fair. After dinner we do guided star gazing from the lapa. We follow the star gazing up with a night game drive with spot lights. At Chandelier Game Lodge we also offer you 4x4 game viewing drives. Chandelier hosts a large population of antelope - 23 species in total. The Chandelier Show Farm consists of 3500ha of succulent Karoo, River bush veldt and Cape Fynbos. The 122km of “Land Rover Tracks” make game viewing safaris on Chandelier an unforgettable experience, creating timeless memories. Large numbers of game, such as Sable Antelope, Lechwe, Waterbuck, Bontebok and Kudu are free roaming the rolling hills and you can spot the giraffes from the comfort of the Land Rovers. We also host the annual Chandelier Mountain Bike Challenge. With the start of this event in 2009 we had over 300 participants and this number is set to grow in 2010 and beyond. Chandelier Game Lodge was declared a mountain bike friendly reserve making it one of only a few reserves in South Africa to offer mountain bike safaris. Mountain bikes and helmets are supplied by Chandelier.
