TAKE A STROLL THROUGH
THE CITY BOWL - WHERE HISTORY UNFOLDS!
Rough Guide refers to Cape Town as the most
“historically intense” area in South Africa - there is
no better way to experience historic Cape Town, than
with the walking tour.
Scheduled City Walks depart daily and private walking
tours are available on request.
HIGHLIGHTS
Historic Cape
Town is small and compact - ideal for walking. We
highlight some of the sites and insights we share with
you ...
•
The
Grand Parade, the place where the Dutch ships
first landed and where they built their
fortifications. This is also the site of
significant gatherings, of protest, public
executions and celebrations – like Mandela’s
freedom!
•
At
the Slave Lodge and Slave Tree Site, you will
see where slaves were bought and sold, where
they worked and where they slept – a stone’s
throw from the site of the only church permitted
in the Cape for almost one and a half centuries.
•
Today the descendants of slaves enjoy the
Company’s Garden - the same Garden their
forebears tilled and tended 350 years ago.
•
Your
walk includes a visit to the District Six
Museum, a poignant place to reflect on the
devastating affect apartheid had on people’s
lives.
•
We
love taking you to Government Avenue and telling
you about our three living Nobel Peace Prize
winners; Mandela, De Klerk and Tutu - all of
whom worked within 50m of here!
